Media Coursework: Tittle of Film

I have decided to call my film "My Funny Afterlife". I have chosen this title for my film because my film opening will be part of a comedy, I think that because I have put the word "Funny" in my film tittle means  that people will know it's a comedy. It also goes with the story-line of my film.

For my film opening I have decided to film and create a comedy. It will be about a younf girl who has lost her friend only to have her come back to her as a ghost.The music in my film opening will be composed by myself using the digital Piano and and Garage Band.My film will consist of many different shots and editing styles. e.g Establishing shot, reverse reverse shot, close ups, POV shots and over the shoulder shots. My film opening will follow a liner style. I have decided that the first protagonist female will be wearing black as she grieves the loss of her best friend whilst the second protagonist will be wearing white as she is a ghost. I have chosen theses colours as I think they contrast well together and work well side by side.

Focus Group and Questionnaires.

Before I started filming my opening I held a focus group with my initial target audience (young adults who are between the ages of 13-18) and asked them a series of questions so that I was able to know what type of film they would prefer to see. In my questionnaire I asked similar questions and got a lot of quantitative data that allowed me to see what was most popular amongst my target audience. Here are some of the questions that I asked:
1. What genre of film do you prefer?
2. What type of characters would you like to see in a movie and why?

Task 3: Where can you find funding within the UK?

There are many film productions that help films to be funded for example the BFI, Channel 4 Production and     National Lottery are known for the help of funding films within the UK.

Task 2: Create a production company name. Research production companies who have supported a film with a similar genre to your own.

-The production company is responsible for fundraising for the production of a film or media production. They get the money they need through a parent company, partner, or private investor.

-It handles budgeting, scheduling, scripting, actors and location, the organization of staff, the production itself, post-production, distribution, and marketing. Production companies are often either owned or under contract with a media conglomerate, film studio or entertainment company, who act as the production companies parent company (see Time Warner, Viacom), but they can also be independent (see Lucas-film, Lionsgate). Production companies can also work together in co-productions.

-Working Title Film is a British film production company that is located and based in London (UK). The company was founded by Tim Bevan and Sarah Radclyffe in 1983. It produces feature length films and several television productions, including films starring comic actor Rowan Atkinson. Eric Feller and Bevan are now the co-owners of the company.
-Films that have been produced by the Working Title include: Wild Child, Paul, Nanny McPhee, Definitely Maybe and many other feature length films 


-Sherwood Pictures is an American Christian Film Production company in Albany, Georgia, United States. The company mostly volunteers in their productions. It was founded in 2002 by Alex Kendrick. the associate pastor of media for Sherwood Baptist Church with $20.000 in donation, which is used as a budget for the films that are made.

-Film4 Productions
Film4 Productions is a British film production company owned by Channel Four Television Corporation. The company has been responsible for backing a large number of films made in the United Kingdom. They have helped produce popular feature length films such as: 127 Hours, Slumdog Millionaire, The Lovely Bones and The Iron Lady.





  

Media Coursework:Film Opening: Film Titles (Research)

Before I start to plan and create my film opening for the media coursework,I have been researching various film opening and paying key attention to the film's opening titles, I am doing this to see what style I could use so that I have a successful film opening, I have also been looking at the the people who are credited in the the opening titles so I can see they type of people who need to be included in making and producing my film opening. It is also important to see the sequence in which they appear in. For example I watched the "Napoleon Dynamite" opening tittles and made a list of the key people who are involved in the film:

Lesson 4: Filming and Completing The Continuity Exercise:14/11/11

We filmed on Monday 7th November in the Common Room at school. We made sure that the camera was on one side so we followed the 180 degrees rule. It was steady cam so the whole thing is straight and not jumpy. We made sure the camera was following the match on match action. The task was enjoyable and fun to do.

We finished editing our filming today on Final Cut Express HD. We found Final Cut
Express simple to use and got the task done quite quickly. We mostly used the razor blade tool and selection tool to edit our filming. The razor tool simply breaks up the film to exactly where you want it cut to and the selection tool can select which parts to cut and get rid of, or where we want to move a piece of film to.

Lesson 2 :What We Plan To Do: 2/11/11

Task 2:
Me and my partner will be filming the continuity exercise. Which will consist of Match on Match Action, Shot Reverse shot and 180 rule filming in our exercise. We will be filming this exercise in the media department using other members in our class.

Lesson 1: Definitions: 31/10/11

Key Definitions:

Match On Match Action: Cut from one shot to another view that matches and follows the action and pace of the first shot. it creates an impression of continuity even though you may have filmed the shots at completely different times.It makes it easier when it comes to editing as there are no jump cuts that are visible.

Shot Reverse Shot: A shot of one person which switches to another person and back again, usually showing conversation that can be easily followed by the audience.

180 Degrees Filming: Stays on one side of the action this means that the shots used in a scene are clear as they are all shown to be on the same side.
